One of the most remarkable landmarks in Shanghai ranks twelfth among the tallest skyscrapers in the world and stands proudly among the three giants of the city’s Pudong skyline. Rising to an architectural height of 492 meters (494.3 meters including its spire), this extraordinary tower combines luxury, business, and leisure within a single vertical city.
The building houses offices, shopping areas, conference facilities, and a world-class hotel. The hotel component is the Park Hyatt Shanghai, which occupies floors 79 through 93 and includes 174 rooms and suites. At the time of its completion, it was the highest hotel in the world, a title now held by the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, located in the International Commerce Centre. Today, the Park Hyatt remains the third-highest hotel globally.
Among its spectacular amenities is a swimming pool on the 85th floor, one of the highest in the world. The tower also features elegant dining venues: a panoramic restaurant on the 87th floor offering breathtaking views across Shanghai, and another restaurant on the 91st floor.
The skyscraper contains two main skylobbies that serve the office floors and provide access to local elevators — one located around the 24th to 28th floor range, and another on the 52nd floor.
Visitors can experience the city from three observation decks positioned around the tower’s iconic aperture. The lowest deck is on the 94th floor at a height of 423 meters, the second on the 97th floor at 439 meters, and the highest on the 100th floor at 474 meters above ground, making it the eighth highest accessible observatory in the world.
Technically, the tower rises across 101 floors (including three underground levels) and offers a total floor area of approximately 381,600 square meters. It is serviced by 91 elevators and 33 escalators, ensuring efficient movement throughout the vast structure.
Blending cutting-edge engineering with refined luxury, this iconic Shanghai skyscraper stands as one of the world’s great architectural achievements and a symbol of the city’s modern ambition.
